Cannery Creek Project Tour
Hosted by Urban Utilities, SMEC & Fulton Hogan
Explore one of Queensland’s most innovative blue-green-grey infrastructure projects during this exclusive technical site tour of the Cannery Creek Sewer Upgrade in Brisbane’s north-east.
Delivered through a partnership between Urban Utilities, SMEC, Fulton Hogan and the local community, the $72 million Virginia Branch Sewer Augmentation Project combines traditional wastewater infrastructure with nature-based solutions to reduce wet weather overflows, improve water quality and regenerate the surrounding environment.
Delegates will visit two project locations and gain firsthand insight into:
- Wet weather pump stations and screening infrastructure
- Constructed wetlands and bioretention basins
- Over 2km of underground pipeline infrastructure
- Environmental regeneration and water quality outcomes
- Community co-design and sustainability innovation
This project represents one of Queensland’s first large-scale applications of a nutrient offset framework and nature-based wastewater solution.

QUT Centre for Robotics + Brisbane Metro Walking Tour

Explore two of Brisbane’s leading innovation and infrastructure projects during this combined technical site tour experience.
Building on over a decade of QUT and federal strategic investment, the QUT Centre for Robotics (QCR) conducts world-leading research in intelligent robotics. We translate fundamental research into real-world outcomes that benefit industry and society. Our experts are leaders in education, training and development of talent in robotics and autonomous systems, and provide leadership in technological policy development and societal debate.
Please join us for a short tour of the Centre, where you will see our robotics and research in action, including a demonstration of a Boston Dynamics Spot quadruped robot.
Following the QUT visit, delegates will participate in a guided Brisbane Metro infrastructure walking tour led by representatives from Brisbane City Council, ACCIONA and Arup, highlighting key elements of Brisbane’s newest public transport network and city-shaping infrastructure investment.

Cross River Rail – Albert Street Site Tour
Hosted by Cross River Rail / CBGU JV
Cross River Rail is a new 10.2 km rail line, including 5.9 km of twin tunnels beneath the Brisbane River and CBD, with four new underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street.
On this tour, participants will experience firsthand the ongoing construction works at Albert Street Station, including the platform, mezzanine, canopy and main station entrance. As the first new CBD train station built in more than 120 years, Albert Street Station will dramatically improve connectivity to the southern part of the city.
The new underground station will become a key pedestrian gateway for QUT’s Gardens Point campus, the parliamentary precinct, the Queen’s Wharf development, the upgraded Eagle Street business district and the City Botanic Gardens. It will also provide direct access to Elizabeth Street and the Queen Street Mall.
The tour will include:
- Guided walkthrough of the Albert Street station precinct
- Project overview and infrastructure insights
- Sustainability and city-shaping outcomes discussion
- Live construction environment experience
- Q&A with project representatives
